We look to the past to see where we've come from and celebrate where we're going.
Watch the Anniversary Mass or the homily from Archbishop Rozanski. The homily starts at the 20 minute mark.
During his homily, viewable using the above link, Archbishop Rozanski said shared a bit of the history and faith that came before us and surrounds us, waiting to be passed on to those after us.
A summary from his homily: St. Peter, over 2000 years ago, was called by Jesus from the profession of fisherman, to the great responsibility of leading the early church. Sometimes he got it right, sometimes he didn’t. Life was more complicated with Jesus, but it had purpose. 175 years ago, settlers came here from Germany with the richness of their faith and a belief that God would open their lives for something better. In fits and starts, they brought the care of Christ to those whom they encountered. Today, our landscape and city look vastly different from the farm land of 175 years ago, yet we are still called to have the same vision of St. Peter, to share the same faith that gives hope and life and joy. Not because Jesus calls us to an easy life, but because Jesus gives us meaning to our lives.

For interviews from some of older parishioners, we can get a sense of how our parish became the beautiful community that it is today.
