Forgiveness, Mercy, and Inspiration On the Rocks At Mass on the Feast of the Chair of St. Peter, children inspired us with Martina McBride’s song Anyway about building, dreaming, believing, singing, loving, and most of all praying.  McBride attributed her inspiration in part to a poem that Mother Teresa had hung in a children’s home in Calcutta, that was inspired by a list of Paradoxical Commandments written by Kent Keith. These “paradoxical” commandments include kindness, honesty, happiness, goodness, helping others, and loving.  Inspiration can come from anywhere, from songs and po...

Posted on February 26, 2017

This is our third and final article relating to American Heart Month.  I hope this series has encouraged you to take action now to lower your risk for heart disease. Lent begins Wednesday with ashes distributed at four Masses, 6:30, 8, Noon, and 7 pm.   This year we shake things up a bit as we will have stations at noon each Friday.  As this time is the most attended on Ash Wednesday, so on Fridays we hope it is available for those who can break from work nearby.  During Lent, Fr. Meyer and I have shaken up the times when we will be available in the confessional this season.  Besides the standard weekly Saturday afternoon confessions at 3:45 – 4:45, one or both of us will be available, at varied times some.    We will publish those times...

The Heart Knows

Posted on February 21, 2017

The Heart Knows Knowing the symptoms of heart disease and how to manage them can improve the quality of your life.  This week we continue to honor American Hearth Month by talking about heart disease and heart attack. Heart disease, also known as coronary heart disease (CHD) or coronary artery disease (CAD),  happens when cholesterol and fatty material, called plaque, build up inside arteries.  Causes of this plaque build-up include too much fat and cholesterol in the blood, high blood pressure, smoking, and too much sugar in the blood (usually because of diabetes) When plaque blocks an artery, it i...

A Message from Fr. Bauer

Posted on February 07, 2017 in: General News

I have been informed that the Food Pantry operating from in our parish is quite short of particular types of food.  Sometimes we get extra help from agencies/organizations….other times not.  While we have an adequate supply of  vegetables, we are currently in particular need at this time of SOUP WITH MEAT, PASTA AND PASTA SAUCE.  I know we all appreciate the fine work of our St. Vincent DePaul Society members, lets help them out if possible.  We all know that hunger knows no season. I have asked to have baskets at the doors, similar to what we did with operation toothbrush.

Are you animated by charity in relationships w...
