St. Peter has a Food Booth at the Festival of the Little Hills. The Festival this year is Aug 19, 20, 21. This opportunity is the only one all year that gets school families volunteering for themsself. You have fun, you meet other St. Peter families, and you make tuition credit for the current school year. All profits from the booth get divided up equally among the families that work the booth based on how many hours you work. In years past the families that worked the booth got to keep 60% of the profits and the church kept 40% to give toward tuition aid as they saw fit. STEM education is a movement to teach students how science, technology, engineering and mathematics can be used collaboratively to solve real world problems in a non-traditional classroom environment. Students are generally presented with challenges that are project and team based. The engineering principles of brainstorm, design, implement, and test in iterations are the norm and not the exception. Students are encouraged to be inventers and innovators. Through funding from the Home and School Association, the school was gifted 10 Lego Mindstorm EV3 robot kits this past school year. Coding of the robots was added to the 7...

Days 6 in the Holy Land with Deacon Larry--just catching up on a very long but spiritual day in the Old City. Today was a walking tour beginning at the Mount of Olives and the Garden of Gethsemane to the Cave of Betrayal to the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the empty tomb. We also made stops at the Wailing Wall, the Upper Room and the Tomb of King David. We had a Mediterranean style dinner in the Holy City followed by a light show at the Tower of David. Was a lot to take in and it made Holy Week really come to life.

We started at the Garden Tomb a recent find believed to be the the tomb of Joseph of Aramethea where Jesus was buried after the crucifixion. We then headed to the hill country of Judea to the site of the Church of the Visitation between Mary and her cousin Elizabeth. The church is built over the home of Zechariah, Elizabeth and John the Baptist. On our way to Bethlehem, we stopped at the house of Caiaphas where Jesus was held for the trial by the Sanhedrin. The Church of Peters Denial if built over the house. We had lunch i...

You may find this hard to believe but there is a St. Peter Church in Jaffa. I will post a few pictures once I upload them from my cell phone. Beautiful Church managed by the Franciscans. We also visited an art studio with a small sculpture of St Peter sl...
