Novena to the Holy Spirit – Beginning May 19
Following the Ascension of Our Lord, tradition says that the disciples gathered in the upper room together with Our Blessed Mother for the novena, nine days of prayer, in anticipation of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit was given to the disciples to empower them to “be my witnesses…even to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8) We too need the power of the Holy Spirit to be effective witnesses of God for our world.
Beginning on May 19, 2023, the faithful of the Archdiocese of St. Louis are invited to join together in praying the Novena to the Holy Spirit leading up to Pentecost. As we look ahead to Archbishop Rozanski’s announcement, we offer up this time in preparation for the changes to come.
That is why, as disciples of Jesus, we unite together in prayer for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit, who emboldens us to be effective witnesses of God’s love for our world.
Here at St. Peter, the Novena to the Holy Spirit will be incorporated into our daily Masses, beginning May 19. You can also accesses the Novena to the Holy Spirit at: https://allthingsnew.archstl.org/Resources/Novena-to-the-Holy-Spirit
