SRC Update
The School Resolution Committee (SRC) met on Monday, November 21, 2016. Based on recent information and discussions with St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and St. Robert Bellarmine, the SRC will be recommending to the Archbishop that St. Peter Catholic School be combined with the regional school located at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Additionally, our Finance Committee has approved grants to be given to those families who choose to remain in St. Peter parish and send their children to the regional school. Grants will be given on a per child basis with the intent of helping parish families reduce the amount of tuition that they are currently paying. This information was shared with the those who attended the Home and School meeting on November 22nd. Also, grants will be given to parents who choose to send their children to PSR. A private open house for St. Peter families will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School on Tuesday, December 6th at 7:00 p.m. All are welcome.
What Makes a Regional School Different than a Parish School?
Now, that we are recommending to the Archbishop that we become part of a regional school, I thought it would be helpful to explain how a regional school operates and how it is different than a parish school.
1. The regional school operates financially independent from any parish.
2. The regional school is managed by a Board of Directors consisting of representatives from each parish that subscribes to be part of the regional school.
3. The regional school operates on a financial break-even basis each year.
4. Each subscribing parish pays an annual subsidy based on the percentage of how many parish children are enrolled in the regional school.
5. School families remain in their home parishes and their children continue to receive the Sacraments at their home parish.
6. Priests from the subscribing parishes celebrate the weekly school Mass on a rotating basis.
7. The regional school bills each of the subscribing parishes for their share of their tuition based on the number of parish children attending the regional school.
