St Robert and St. Peter Parish School Religion
Open enrollment for the 2018/2019 School Year
Do you have a child attending Kindergarten through Eighth grade this year in public or home school? The Parish School of Religion is a program designed to supplement the education of your child with a full Catholic curriculum to assist you in the knowledge and formation of Jesus Christ and His Church. As in any other part of a child’s upbringing, the child should receive the best and most complete understanding of the truth of Christianity and be equipped to live, love, and defend their faith throughout their life.
We offer 1st through 8th grade Religious studies on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:15pm. During our classes, students learn the faith through textbooks, reason, presentations, and various activities, given by devoted and well educated teachers who feel called to share their faith. Each week individual classes lead the closing prayers using a variety of methods which allows the students to proclaim Christ at each age.
Beginning in the first grade, students will begin to memorize and comprehend basic Catholic teaching (doctrine) and prayers. These will be the building blocks for the two sacraments they will receive in second grade, First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. This year moves very quickly as your child is excited to receive Jesus! Third grade through 6th continues to educate the students on Catholic teachings and preparing them for the sacrament of Confirmation. Grades 7 and 8 are dedicated to preparing our young men and women as they open themselves to celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation. They will want to assume a more "adult" position in our faith and contemplate God’s plan for their future in our Church. Consequently, it is important for a student to attend the program from K-8th Grade, and therefore a two-year preparation period for each Sacrament is required.
